Houdini is a 3D computer graphics software developed by Side Effects Software Inc. (SESI) of Canada, which was founded by Kim Davidson and Greg Hermanovic in 1987. Houdini was redeveloped based on Prisms and can run on Linux, Windows, Mac OS and other operating systems. It is a product designed entirely based on the node model, and its structure and operation methods are very different from other 3D software. Houdini’s own renderer is Mantra, which is based on the Reyes rendering architecture, so it can also quickly render motion blur, depth of field and displacement effects. Mantra is a mature renderer that has been product-proven and can meet the requirements of movie-level rendering. Of course, Houdini also has interfaces for third-party renderers, such as RenderMan, Mental ray, Vray, Arnold and Torque, etc., and scenes can be exported to these rendering engines for rendering.

Houdini 20 includes hundreds of enhancements and new workflows including Karma XPU, Feathers, Clouds, Material Catalog, Render Stats, Quad Remesh, APEX Character Rigging & Animation tools and more.

Installation steps:

Delete the files in C:\Windows\keys
Double-click to install houdini-py39-20.5.278-win64-vc143.exe. Remember to check the License Server when installing
After completion, open the License Administrator in the Start menu bar, click Stop under Sesinetd in the top menu File – License Tools Services, but do not close this window, you will use it later
Copy the sesinetd.exe in the replacement folder to C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\License Server, replace
Click Start, Close under Sesinetd, and reopen the License Administrator
Copy the Local host name (Server Name) and Local server code (Server Code)
Open the registration machine houdini_20_5_keygen.exe, enter the Server Name and Server Code, click Generate Keys to generate the License
Return to License Administrator, select File-Import Licenses-Manual Install, copy the generated registration code and paste it here, enter a total of five lines of registration code, then continue File-Import Licenses-Manual Install, import the remaining registration codes
Close all windows, open Houdini again and you’re done!
